What on earth is Laughter Yoga?! Sounds like fun to me … or, at least it sounds intriguing! I mean, what is more contagious than laughter? And, guess what … there are amazing health benefits too.
What it is
The practice of Laughter Yoga was founded/designed by Indian doctor Madan Kataria in 1995 and is gaining popularity here in the states by leaps and bounds. The practice combines playful group exercises designed to get people to laugh for no reason with yogic, deep breathing.
This unique exercise routine brings more oxygen to the brain and body, strengthens the immune system, lowers blood pressure and helps keep your heart healthy! The practice can ease depression and anxiety, reduce pain and lower stress – all while creating unique connections with others.
How it works
Classes can start with meeting your classmates and a little socialization. Then, the group will do some warm-ups and breathing. Then the games start. Each session will end with mediations.
